The Certified Total Quality Manager® (CTQM®) is a professional who leads and champions process improvement initiatives across organizations of all sizes—from small businesses to multinational corporations. This certification prepares managers to drive quality excellence with regional or global impact in diverse service and industrial environments.
A Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence facilitates and leads team efforts to establish and monitor customer/supplier relations, supports strategic planning and deployment initiatives, and helps develop measurement systems to determine organizational improvement.
The Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence should be able to motivate and evaluate staff, manage projects and human resources, analyze financial situations, determine and evaluate risk, and employ knowledge management tools and techniques in resolving organizational challenges.
The Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence evolved from the certified quality manager as a way to broaden the scope of the examination. The Quality Management Division surveyed certified quality managers and other recognized subject matter experts.
Survey results indicated that not only had the Body of Knowledge for quality managers evolved, but the program’s name needed to be updated to reflect the broader scope of the role. With the approval of the BCCEB Certification Board, the Certified Quality Manager program was renamed to the Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence program.

If you do not pass your CBT exam, you will receive a summary of your performance via email within 3–5 business days of your exam attempt. You may retake the exam at a significantly reduced retake rate for up to 2 years from your previous attempt. (Please refer to the Exam Results FAQs for additional details.)
Results for Paper-based tests will be slightly delayed.
The topics in this new Body of Knowledge (BOK) include detailed descriptions (subtext) that guide the Exam Development Committee in writing test questions. This subtext is also designed to help candidates prepare by identifying specific content within each topic that may be tested.
The subtext is not intended to limit the subject matter or be all-inclusive of what might be covered in an exam but is intended to clarify how the topics relate to a manager's role. The descriptor in parentheses at the end of each entry refers to the maximum cognitive level at which the topic will be tested. A complete description of cognitive levels is provided at the end of the document.
